Floats

Hong Kong

Looking down from a restaurant in Sheraton Hotel in TsimShaTsui, I saw these floats outside the Hong Kong Museum of Art. They were standing by for a Chinese New Year parade. See the red one on the right? I guess it’s obvious that the most famous mouse in the world will be there for the Year of Rat.

Lamppost?

tsimshatsui

Photo by HKDP contributor Iza Pugeda: I took this at the Avenue of the Stars. I’m just not sure what else I could write about this photo, only that it was taken around dusk and it was a Sunday, so there were a lot of people in the area.

Here’s the 4.5-meter tall Hong Kong Film Awards sculpture at the entrance of the Avenue of Stars, I just don’t quite figure out this sculpture and the “pearl” looks just like the lamps behind. :-) See this wiki page for more info on the Avenue of Stars

Road workers?

Tsimshatsui

Photo by HKDP contributor Randy Cox: In my town I am about 18 hours by car from the nearest ocean and 3 hours from the nearest large lake. The workers in the boat in the harbor reminded me of the highway workers I see everyday here in Indiana, but they were fixing the waterfront rather than the road. :-)

Ysengrin, a regular visitor of HKDP contributed this photo. It was taken on Avenue of Star in Tsimshatsui Promenade where one can see the “handprints” of famous star of Chinese/Hong Kong cinema, or in this case, the person in charge :-).

Dazzling

p1140075s.jpg

The city has literally lit up with Christmas lights and as it is facing the harbor, this whole block in Tsimshatsui East is competing with the Central harbor front for grander, brighter and more beautiful decorations…and both are dazzling! You can see the International Finance Center on the left hand side of this photo, which is actually on the opposite side of the harbor but since it is soooooooo tall…

It’s Christmas eve…I wish you all a safe and happy festival…Peace and Merry Christmas :-)

Heart to heart

This is the first of the Christmas series. I took this photo in Tsimshatsui East, where the festive decorations is spectacular and it has become a signature of the area. This is one of the buildings facing the harbour, and obviously it looks extra romantic to this couple here! :-) This scene soooooo reminds me of those in cartoons that when people fall in love there are always hearts all around them…
(Merry Christmas to my dear visitors…I’m away for a few days, “see” you on Boxing Day!)

Harbor view

061220s.jpg

18:08, December 19, 2006…the view from the ferry pier in Tsimshatsui looking towards the west side of the Victoria Harbor. What you see is what I saw, the colors were amazing because the weather is so nice and the air so clear these days. On the right is the Ocean Terminal, if you arrive on a cruise ship that is probably where you would land…see the smoke on the left? It’s from the big pipe of a departing ferry. :-) Well, I was on my way to take photos of the Christmas decorations in Tsimshatsui and they are coming up soon.

Busy harbor

060924s.jpg

Just a photo to show you the Victoria Harbor on a busy day. This photo was taken from Central (HK island) looking towards Tsimshatsui and western Kowloon. Lots of activities going on with the hydrofoil, barges, ferry, a couple of small boats and even two helicopters, and just behind that giant advertisement of mooncake is a cruise ship at the terminal.

Today’s post is really about a song (press play if you’re not at work or click this link but it may auto play on some computers, so check the volume;p). The first time I heard this, I thought it was the music but it’s actually the voice and the non-fancy style of the singer that makes it special; it is very much like a friend singing in a house party or school hall party. I later found out who the singer is, he’s famous…do you recognise the voice? Btw, is this song an oldie?
OH…the photo…it was taken at Tsimshatsui by the Hong Kong Cultural Centre :-).

Tsimshatsui waterfront at night

More often when you see night photo of Hong Kong you are shown a view of the Hong Kong island waterfront from Tsimshatsui. This is a photo from the opposite direction, a photo of Tsimshatsui from the Hong Kong island. The lights are less glamorous but it has a kind of quiet beauty. On the left is the cruise terminal, and on the right is the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the clock tower.
