Another photo by SiuSiu taken at Aberdeen, the home of most of HK’s fishing boats and of course, a place for good seafood restaurants

This photo is by David Magliocco which he took at the floating seafood restaurant, Jumbo Restaurant, at Aberdeen. And here’s a tip from David: If you don’t make a reservation then you will be placed on one of the outside deck where you can enjoy a meal without getting a cold from a freezing air conditionner and with a nice view on the marina.

As the two girls in the post a few days were staying cool, this guy was staying extra cool. I took both photos at Shek O, a beach in southern Hong Kong island.

I took this photo a while ago at Cyberport, an area on the southwest part of HK. I just wanted to show the giants of land and sea here - the apartment building and the cargo ship, although I must say the former looks quite a bit bigger.
It was also a exceptionally fine day in HK as the air was so clear and “smogless”.

I’ve shown you Garden Road a couple of days ago, and this is a night shot I took at Pokfulam Road. Again, I took this photo on a pedestrian walkway over the road. But only this time I had to hold my camera against the railings and held my breath when I pressed shutter to get this night shot! Hope you’ll like it!

I took this photo on Sunday in Aberdeen as I’ve always wanted to photograph these red lamp shades of the fruit stalls. I guess the reddish light makes the fruits’ more attractive, as seen in this photo I posted last August of the same stall.

Here’s a view of the waterfront and main street of Stanley. This part of the town is where most of the wining and dining take place with a number of French, Italian, American, Indian and Thai restaurants plus a couple of popular English styled pubs. Great place for a bit of sun and cold beer on a nice warm day and it’s beautiful and cozy at night!

While in Stanley, I stumbled upon the rehearsal of the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe for a gala event that night. Usually I would use the continuous shutter function to press once and take many photos. But I gave myself a little challenge and took one shot at a time, and I got the performer in mid-air exactly the way I want it!
p.s. I have just added an extra shot here

I went to the seaside town Stanley on Friday to see this ship, East Indiaman Gotheborg.
The beautiful Swedish ship is a replica of the original Gotheborg which sank outside of its hometown Gotheborg in 1745 — after a 30 months voyage to Asia and with goods which was worth the national budget then. When the wreck of the ship was discovered in 1985, a dream was born. So a full scale replica was built with exact exterior details and in October 2005, it set off to retrace the route of the original Gotheborg’s Asian journey. The ship arrived in HK after visiting Shanghai and it leaves today for Singapore. I do wish to see it again (wink wink DP bloggers), it is truly a magnicient ship with a very interesting, though unfortunate, story.Link: More details and photos in the official Swedish Ship Gotheborg website

I’ve had enough tennis for the week. I’m still in school so I’m going to relax by doing economics. Maria Sharapova
OK, if any one of you relaxes by doing marketing paper please send me an email, I’ll let you know about my next assignment.
If not, you can probably relax by gazing at this photo of a tranquil corner at the university and have a good weekend!
Sharapova can also speak for Kala of Honululu DP who coaches canoeing and works on beaches we have to take vacation to see; in the meantime, this line from Mission Impossible speaks for me this very moment — Ethan Hunt: Relax Luther, it’s much worse than you think.

I had three chairs in my house; one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society. Henry David Thoreau
There are several reasons I took and post this photo: the Green chair (yes Rudy
I notice!), the tiles (beautiful, isn’t it?), the sunlight and shadow (I miss Bob’s Barcelona DP), the feeling of solitude (because somebody said “one is inspired only in solitude” and I need some inspiration), and lastly, it’s not a bad shot, isn’t it?
I have made good progress with the assignment…So how’s your day/yesterday?
p.s. this shot was taken at the same building a few months ago.

I was trying to take this shot , , while these girls eagerly moved in with tripods and cameras to take their graduation photos. I gladly let them have the spot, afterall, they have worked hard for four years to get here :-). This photo was taken at the university main building; as I’m still working on my assignment (deadline on Monday), you’ll see more of my favorite images taken around here ;p
Pokfulam University
Southern District UniversityYesterday was a public holiday so this couple pretty much had the whole Lok Yew Hall (of the University of HK) to themselves. The weather was nice and sunny so I bet they had got some really nice photos. Actually, so did I.
Just for a bit of entertainment I searched online and found these quotations to go with this post. No, they do not necessarily represent my views

“The roses, the lovely notes, the dining and dancing are all welcome and splendid. But when the Godiva is gone, the gift of real love is having someone who’ll go the distance with you. Someone who, when the wedding day limo breaks down, is willing to share a seat on the bus.” Oprah Winfrey
The music at a wedding procession always reminds me of the music of soldiers going into battle. Heinrich Heine
WEDDING, n. A ceremony at which two persons undertake to become one, one undertakes to become nothing, and nothing undertakes to become supportable. Ambrose Bierce
There are three rings involved with marriage. The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering. Woody Allen

I took this photo while taking a walk in my friend’s neighborhoold. This is Wah Fu Estate, a government-built public housing estate in the Southern district. These households are not likely to be decorated with chandeliers but I think collectively, their lights form a kind of chandelier-like glamor against the clear sky of the evening. You can also see Wah Fu Estate in this previous post.

When the dragon dances, it rocks!
Held by a single man, the dragon head moved around quite swiftly, while the body part, held by about 20 guys, followed in co-ordinated movements and pace. Here, the dragon was bowing to the crowds. See yesterday’s post and link for more photos. I borrow this shot by my friend SiuSiu who has quite a few good shots of this colorful ritual. For more photos, click this link to visit SiuSiu’s photo gallery.
