previously Hong Kong, one photo a day (Feb 13th 2006 — Feb 13th 2008), now posting archive photos of cities I’ve been to
I took this shot in Yuen Long and was told there was a fire in this music and video shop. Well, FSI stands for “fire scene investigation” and as you can see, we had more than enough investigators on site

a candid shot I got of an impromptu tai chi lesson by one of the monks to a bus driver at Po Lin Monastery. Unfortunately, a number of other tourists noticed that I was a bit off the beaten path taking pictures and a small crowd formed, ruining whatever ‘intimacy’ was there to begin with. ~Tex~This is such a fun shot! Thanks to Tex for sharing it

A bit of nature barbeque pit hong kong photos New Territories new territories hong kong Park young at heartAbout staying young at heart: while I bothered the ants with my camera (see this photo), my dad played with my nephews. The kids (or little rascals) had been begging him the whole afternoon so finally my dad agreed to help them make a fire with some pine cones they had gathered :-). Well, they used the barbeque pit but we really didn’t need that fire. Sshhhh, don’t tell them about this post…Have a good weekend!
This photo is for Lavender Lady who’s enjoying her grandma stage in Sequim
and Meg in Nelson who can never be too old to stay young at heart!!
“Chief, paparazzi alert! This one is not myrmecophobic…” (Myrmecophobia = fear of ants)
These guys were working extra hard to get ready for autumn, smart of them to hang around a picnic ground. They don’t seem to be anthropophobic. (Anthropophobia = fear of people) Here’s a shot from the ants’ point of view.
Do you have any phobia? Phobophobia, maybe??!! LOL (Phobophobia = fear of phobias)
This can go with a Chinese idiom: 一葉知秋. These four characters are literally: One, Leaf, Aware, Autumn; loosely meaning you can tell it’s autumn by seeing a leaf, extending to other meanings such as awareness of nature, logics in daily life and mindful observations in life.
A bit of nature New Territories ParkSo here it is, autumn in HK. This photo was taken at the country park seen in yesterday’s photo and is inspired by this photo by Kris and of course, many of Bob’s.
More than 90% of HKDP’s photos were taken in the HK island and this is the first post on the New Territories ;-), the northern-most region of the city which is mostly rural area, aka NATURE for those of us living and working in the concrete jungle! This photo was taken on Sunday when all 18 of us, families and friends, went to the Plover Cove Country Park for a picnic/barbeque. Autumn is really the best season to go out and it was breezy and sunny that day. To see the location of this country park from Central (where I’m based), click here.

Today, I’m using a photo by my friend taken during a hiking trip last weekend. He captured the Government Flying Service in action saving a hiker (not seen in photo and not sure what the problem was) from one of the most challenging hiking trails. See his msn album for more shots of the rescue (the other album marked with some Chinese characters and then 20060212 are scenic views on the trail).
The GFS is a well-respected department and has stayed relatively low-profile until last year a TV drama series was made based on it (pretty much like ER but it ran only one season). Don’t miss the videos on the GFS website which takes you flying around seeing HK from atop.
