Citylights

Hong Kong

I’m starting a round of contributor photos: here’s an amazing one by SiuSiu, an abstract of the festive lights in town.

Cocoon

Hong Kong

A sculpture in the departure hall of the airport…don’t know its name but I think it should be named “cocoon”…and but the way, have you noticed there’s no reflection of the photographer in this photo?

“Now you see me, now you don’t”…I was getting bored while waiting for our table at a restaurant while I took this photo of the seafood tanks :-)

Guess no more

Hong Kong

The answer to yesterday’s question — it’s a pretty worn out notice board I saw in Lamma Island, and I just love green, any shade of green :-)

I think this is azure instead of blue, what do you think? :-) This photo was taken at the Blue House in Wanchai, see the whole building here.

A colorful year is fading out…in 2006 I started this blog and “met” many TIME Person of the Year — YOU! So to YOU DP bloggers and all YOU visitors, Happy New Year! :-)
Obviously, you can tell it’s a lighting shop in Central :p…I’ve always tried to photograph this storefront which is covered with beautiful decorative lights but never tried hard enough, but I think it’s nice to end the year with this abstract photo.

Here’s another quiz and I hope everyone would win…unlimited postcards, one each to those who guess what this is/what these are?
I cropped the photo and pushed the contrast. More hints? I could go around this subject to take photos and we’ve been to this place before (

**********************************************
Oh, I’m still stuck at my desk so I want to have a bit of fun with a quiz today.
What is this? (Or what are these?)
Found as shown in the university main building, I didn’t move or set up anything but just clicked my camera, then I cropped the photo and pushed the contrast and this is the result. I have four postcards made with this photo (Tags:

Psychedelic colors

Some psychedelic colors I spotted at the Big Wave Bay beach ;-)…nonono, I was and am absolutely sober…I have a whole week of work and study to do!
Have a good week everybody!

Kids’ point of view

Kids' point of view

These beach balls and toys were hung up high under the canopy of a toy store, and this is how kids see them when they look up.
Actually, once upon a time, this could be how toys were to us, up high and out of reach…well, unless you were a tall kid or have very obedient parents! ;-)

Do you know where you’re going to?

Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you?
Where are you going to? Do you know? Do you get what you’re hoping for?
When you look behind you, there’s no open doors.
What are you hoping for?Do you know?

I really can’t think of anything better than this song to go with this photo :-), and here’s the complete lyrics

Shadow of?

Wouldn’t it be so romantic if the shadow was of a couple?
I was waiting at a bus stop and noticed that the setting sun had cast a reflection on the wall, and when people walked past, it created an interesting image.
What do you imagine this person to be? Boy, girl, man, woman, age, look?

Pink ladies

Of course, as there are some 60 pieces of works in the sculpture exhibition (see yesterday’s post for info), we’ll look at some other ones ;-). Ju Ming premiered his latest series “The Skirt Story” in HK and here we see some pink ladies forming a visual delight at the exhibition.

If walls could talk

If walls could talk, this one would probably tell you it has certain likings for cool sunglasses and nice shade under trees…..pretty much like us!. Have a great weekend everybody…

Museum of Tea Ware

Do you like Chinese tea? This is a set of beautiful 17th century tea cups in the Museum of Tea Ware. Made with the then innovative overglaze techniques, they were decorated with 12 flower-of-the-months, from top left: prunus, apricot blossom, peach blossom, peony, pomegranate, lotus, rose, osmanthus, chrysanthemum, orchid, narcissus, and wintersweet (the audio guide told me). I wonder why Jasmine was not included then? (the audio guide does not take question!)

TaiChi in Exchange Square

I really like this bronze sculpture by Ju Ming in Central, in fact, it is one of the world famous Tai Chi series. It is amazing that Ju can so vividly express the fluidity of tai chi movments through angular lines and rustic materials. This sculpture is a permanent display at the Exchange Square, somehow I imagine that it plays a role to keep the money men sane! Links: another view of this sculpture , Ju Ming Museum in Taiwan

Blue House of Wanchai

As you can see, the “Blue House” is such a beautiful architecture with nostalgic balconies and railings. See the laundry? There are still people living there. The “Blue House” is a pre-war building, 70+ years old, and the spotlight of Wanchai’s urban renewal project.
Oops, actually the Blue House is Here :-)
