Des Voeux Road

Hong Kong

A photo by Greg Williamson — a view of Des Voeux Road in Central, a major road where the tramway lies. Des Voeux Road used to be at the waterfront before reclamation, it is now about 10 minutes away on foot from the sea.

An american friend recently told me that Hongkong is one of the rare place where she feels like at home… Am wondering if that, on the photo, is the ambience she was talking about ?! :)

Oh wow. I can almost hear the trams clanking and dinging. What memories this brings up.

Something a bit odd about the photo. On the one hand it doesn’t seem like rush hour (no traffic jam). And yet, the tram stops are overflowing. Possibly a Sunday?

Great pic. That’s been the view I had out of our kitchen window when working in the Standard Chartered.
