Porthole?

KGV park

Porthole? Not exactly, I took this photo from my favorite spot in my favorite park — the King George V Memorial Park. See the “portholes” in this photo or see a night time view here :-)

Habibi

Just like there is a “Great Wall Restaurant” in most big cities, there is a “Habibi Restaurant” in at least three of the cities I have lived. I guess you already know the direction to the one in Hong Kong. :-)

Absolutely Joy…no…Rapture! I’ve finished another assignment…GEEZ it’s many times more difficult now that I’m not in town and I know I have 5 more to finish this year…but who cares, I handed in one today and have every reason to celebrate until the next deadline!!!! OH, btw, this is Toro, the sony cat (<--see link). I guess I look like the third from left in the middle row, you know, the one holding a bottle ;-)

I think this is azure instead of blue, what do you think? :-) This photo was taken at the Blue House in Wanchai, see the whole building here.

Coffee corner

coffee shop

A corner at a local coffee chain store, this one certainly has more “character” than Starbucks. If you think you’ve seen this before (Michelle?) then maybe you’ve seen this post last year :-)

Yikes

condiments

Nothing spectacular, just the usual “army” of condiments we usually have in noodle/congee shops…sesame, sweet sauce, soy sauce, sugar (?), chili sauce, pepper, salt and vinegar. Yikes, but I hope they wipe off those specks on the bottles :-)

Another sign

sign

I’m not religious but just want to show you that apart from all the colorful and bright neon signs for shopping, entertainment and department stores, there is this one, one that says: Jesus is Lord :-)

A photo taken earlier at the Flower Show, these students were with a group from a local school and obviously, there was some work to be done instead of just browsing through the floral event. :-)

Park talk

boats

I know this may be a bit complicated but apart from showing these two boats berthing side by side, I also want to explain to those of you who understand Cantonese that this is how the term “拍拖” originated (loosely meaning a couple in love) — the term was used to describe a common scene in old time Guangzhou where commercial boats usually berthed in pairs. :-)

After the rain

rain

The sidewalk in my neighborhood after a night of downpour. I don’t know what’s the name of these flowers but they formed a sad and yet colorful image on the pavement.

Rothko?

rothko

Don’t we see art everyday everywhere if we look? I took this photo outside a shop in Sheung Wan…and it so reminds me of this photo I posted about one year ago. I didn’t know Rothko is popular in HK :-)

Footprints

legs

No footprints in this photo but somehow the title “Footprints in the jungle”, a short story of W. Somerset Maugham I read in high school, just popped up. Of course, it may also remind some of my long-time visitors of that brilliant photographer who used to run Barcelona Daily Photo :-)

Stanley

This is perhaps one of the most touristy places in Hong Kong, the Stanley Market, where you can find merchandises you can find anywhere in Hong Kong or some part of China. This place used to be really good for bargain export clothings and at one time, my favorite place to pick up second hand English books. :-)

As the two girls in the post a few days were staying cool, this guy was staying extra cool. I took both photos at Shek O, a beach in southern Hong Kong island. :-)

Giants

cyberport

I took this photo a while ago at Cyberport, an area on the southwest part of HK. I just wanted to show the giants of land and sea here - the apartment building and the cargo ship, although I must say the former looks quite a bit bigger. :-) It was also a exceptionally fine day in HK as the air was so clear and “smogless”.
