Wonton

wonton

Apart from milk tea, what other food do HKers miss when they’re away from home? I bet it’s wonton noodles. And similar to milk tea, wonton is easy to make but few can be the best. I took these photos at the BEST wonton noodle shop in Hong Kong, Mak’s Noodels Restaurant. These people had kindly let me photographed them working, hence composing this little “the making of wonton” collage.

Working hard is tough, playing hard is not easy too…sometimes, we do a break while we are playing hard, don’t we? :-) I took this photo at a playground in Tsimshatsui.

How many?

How many people are there in this photo? I mean real people…
It’s a little confusing isn’t it? I took this photo in a hair salon while I was having a haircut, all these stylists really seem to be smiling into my camera. :-)

Wet market

A scene at a wet market in Central, just outside of the shop where I took the “Chinese barbecue” photo posted two days ago. I don’t mind browsing wet markets because they are always colorful and vibrant with lots of activities. How about you? I bet not all of you have wet markets in where you live, right?

I took this photo of a golden sunset from the hill of Lamma Island. It was time for most people to go home, but the operators of this trawlers didn’t want to call it a day yet.

Cantonese barbecue

food

From all the cities I’ve ever been, there’s only one place that Cantonese barbecue is made right…in fact, perfect. You must know where as this photo is taken in HONG KONG! Do you have a favorite if you’ve had Cantonese barbecue? Mine is roast duck, it’s perfect with mustard!

Red cotton

red cotton

Since this blog is over a year old now so it’s kind of unavoidable that we’ll see some repeated subject, so here’s the red cotton again, seen last year in this photo with special appearance by Sharon Stone.

Answer to yesterday’s post: up to now, Denton, Az and Walter got the answer right — I was on the express train from Central to the HK airport…;-)

Bluish

Guess where I took/sneaked this bluish photo? Naaayyyy, that’s easy, isn’t it? Well, how about guess where I was heading when I took this photo? :-) Happy weekend everybody!

P.S. Well, I think I should update my visitors of what’s going on with me in Shanghai. The past two months had been very hectic. I had travelled back and forth HK and Shanghai three times, not having a lot of real weekends. I’ve been busy, work is ok and challenging as expected so it isn’t too bad. Shanghai is a nice city, but not the drivers. Just yesterday I almost got hit by a big bus left-turning while it was green light for pedestrians. It was crazy and made me angry. There are many other things in daily life that make me think: What the hxxx am I doing here? Shanghai is modern, fancy, it glitters and sparkles but in those fancy cyber-look commercial buildings, people wouldn’t even press the “open” button even if they stand right next to it in elevator, instead they entertain themselves by betting on who would get crammed by the automatic elevator doors.

Enough venting today :-(

Mind your head

I took (or “sneaked”) this photo at the attic of a little inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant in Central (do we have a Vietnamese city DP yet???), anywaz, I found it funny that from this angle, these heads looked like they had hit the ceiling, right under the “mind your head” signs :-)

I know I have posted this photo and this photo about cheongsam, but hey, this is very much an art form now so I am posting another cheongsam photo today. I took this photo at a shopping mall while Shanghai Tang was having a roadshow there.

The best

daipaidong

It may sound like an advertisement, but this place has the BEST Hong Kong-style milk tea in the whole world…I mean my little world. Seriously, it is great and don’t go unless you live in HK because it’s very hard to settle for the second best :-) And don’t worry if you do live in HK and want to try the tea, they have other better seats.
