This view may be a bit confusing…from the Central waterfront looking east, the HK Exhibition and Convention Centre (the wavy structure) actually seems very close to the new Star Ferry pier (the clock tower) in Central, while in fact they are farther apart (see this photo for reference, one is on the far right, the other was under construction on the far left). To further confuse you, the clock tower of the new pier is a replica of an old clock tower which preceded this one (<--link) which was demolished last month.
Thanks to Randy, Paul and David for contributing photos…and I hope there will be more coming…![]()

I love that shot. Very crispy image. Interesting how everything seems so closed.
January 18th, 2007, at 6:38 pm #Wonderful photo…reminds me of a classic case of urban sprawl; but the new pier clock tower is rather handsome. Are the front gabled roofed structures (in blue) part of the new pier complex?

January 19th, 2007, at 12:55 pm #walter, yes, that’s part of the new pier…
in fact, the new clock tower is not getting its fair share of attention because some locals are still bitter about the old one being demolished and some call it fake antique…I guess it would take some time for people to really get used to it and let it merge into the cityscape…
