I took this photo using my cellphone at the airport last night upon arrival from Shanghai. I spent two days there looking for Jing of Shanghai Daily Photo (just kidding :-)!)
Actually I was there to finalize a contract. From February 1, I am going to work in Shanghai, which of course means relocating there, which also means I can’t post fresh photos all the time for HKDP…but I must tell you that I DO intend to continue, at least for the time being.
The plan: I will post all the photos from my archive, not so new ones and new ones while I’m not in town; I’ll post photos of my friend SiuSiu’s; I will also post photos of people who want to share their HK photos here; I will be in town from time to time and I’ll take photos to replenish my stock; I will do whatever I can to keep it going.
In the meantime, please let me have your suggestions to how this may work better. To my visitors who are based in HK, or people who have visited HK, this will become a platform for everyone to share their photos (especially if you don’t want to do regular posts or want to share less personal/interesting ones with more people).
This is what I can think of now, I welcome any suggestions from you, especially from my friends Michelle, Invader Stu, walter, Monique, min, J and of course, everyone in the DP family!
Btw, who would have imagined this when I cheered myself for Post #300? That I won’t be in town for HKDP’s first anniversary (which is exactly one month away today but there WILL be an anniversary)! Definitely not me…I didn’t expect things to move in this direction (North in this case of Shanghai) and to move so fast.
p.s. regular postings of fresh photos will continue until late January

What a news! but first congratulations on your new job, I think that’s what important for you now. HKDP is going to take a different turn it seems, but I hope you (or someone else) can keep running this blog at its best. I’ll be a constant reader and I’m already impatient to see what’s coming next on HKDP. Again, all the best of luck in this new job and new city

Is it a temp job for a couple of months or is it more likely you will spend the whole of next year (and those to come) in Shanghai? Either way, lots of luck and courage to you!

I really like the concept of the daily photo blog but I was too lazy to imagine posting everyday.
But posting picture occasionally should be possible for me.
I just want to respond quickly and thank Ysengrin for his/her (?) support…yes, basically just share your photos by sending either the original or a 700px (width) OR 500px (height) to me, with or without caption, in Chinese and English and I’ll do the posting here…
January 13th, 2007, at 11:32 pm #thanks again Ysengrin and also Karine, dutchie, walter, kerpokokan!
Congratulations and best wishes on your new job. I’m impressed but not surprised by your dedication to HKDP. It becomes part of your life. I certainly hope you keep HKDP going through a network of local contributors. Maybe you can expand the city daily photo model … I have not heard from Jing (from Shanghai DP) since her January 3rd post. When you were in Shanghai was the recent Internet disruption resolved?
January 14th, 2007, at 1:15 am #Wow! Congratulations. You have taken on a new and exciting challenge in your life. We will want to hear more…and maybe a photo of you and Jing together??

I plan to visit hk next month so perhaps i’ll try to participate your ‘plan’ too (though not always easy to do what i want when with my little darling daughter ;S
Anyway, congratulations again Lisi!
January 14th, 2007, at 5:20 am #Wow congratulations
Hmm … definitely the idea of having others share ‘fresh’ photos is great, but since you’re returning to HK once in a while anyway, your photographic work will be wonderful as well. Otherwise, I’d miss your perspective on HK

January 15th, 2007, at 1:07 am #Wow, Lisi, Congratulations on the contract. You will be missed - do you think you will start a second Shanghai DP as well? I hope so. All the best. Good thing you finished that Marketing paper, eh?
January 15th, 2007, at 2:16 pm #Lisi….all the best to you as you make this transition! Perhaps more time in Shanghai will give you more time to hunt for Jing!
January 15th, 2007, at 11:29 pm #No matter what happens to HKDP, I’m sure you’ll continue posting wonderful photos - perhaps a new Shanghai DP…?
First, congratulations on the job! Shanghai is an exciting place to be, especially since it’s developing so quickly now. I think working there will give you lots of opportunities.
The idea of having everyone share their HK photos here is great. Maybe I can dig in some archives and send you something too? Not that I can take such great photo as you do though. Hopefully, you’ll be back in HK often enough so that you can keep having new additions to the site all the time.
January 16th, 2007, at 1:39 am #I’m late on your news… wow. Good luck! But keep those amazing photos coming!
January 16th, 2007, at 7:10 pm #I’ll add my congrats too and your plans to keep HK DP alive sound excellent. All the very best.

January 18th, 2007, at 2:16 pm #Lisi, this is great and sad news. We are all happy about your new job in Shanghai, what is it? But at the same time we are sad we will miss your perpective in a “daily” basis from HK. Now, if you pay attention to Meg, and start a second Shanghai DP, we will enjoy the city twice-a-day. Anyhow, we wish good luck and please let us know a little more about your new adventure.
January 19th, 2007, at 11:06 pm #I have the same question as Rudy - what will you be doing? I went to HK in 1992 - I’d have to scan my slides but I’ll try to find them and send some to you! Good luck with the move!
