Best of 2006

My 10 favorite 2006 photos:

Happy New Year! It’s DP theme day and the theme is “Best photo of the year”. I don’t want to start 2007 with a re-post so I went back to where I took one of my favorite photos and got this shot. You can see the original post by clicking the thumbnail above. I have chosen a total of 10 favorites from last year to share with you, but if I am to choose only one favorite, I think I would choose “Wong Kar Wai’s colors” because I really enjoyed discovering it.

I interpret the theme as the best “according to myself” so it may not be the popular ones but they represent delightful moments that I discovered beauty in ordinary things, they are scenes that I wowed right away or photos that become my favorites later. I would also like to know which is your favorite HKDP photo, especially if it is not within the 10 photos shown here or if it is one that come to your mind right away :-)

Great choices for a great new year Leosista! I especially enjoyed Wong Kar Wai’s Colours because I got it in my mailbox not too long ago :)

Interesting that you chose this one - but then you have so many beatuiful ones. I love your windows/doors, especially old fashioned ones (1 Sept, 5 Oct). The most memorable story was the boy in the red shirt blowing bubbles. I also love when you take out colors from most of the photo to emphasize just one part.

Look forward to more great shots in 2007, Lisi.

The one I had anticipated, would be you choice, was the “Vancouver or HK” photo you re-interpreted. The perspective on that photo is great and the contrast of colors is very eye-catching. I thought the second runner up would be “you’ve got mail”. Happy New Year.

Hello Lisi, like your choice of the best 10 and very much your choice of the day: texture of the ground and movement of the passer-by make the photo interesting. I’ve gone thru’ all your photos rapidly today and see you’ve made a lot of nice and interesting photos ! Apart from your 10, i like Andrew Deneault in Feb (don’t know why i find it like an advertisement of tai-pai-dong ;) probably its my nostagie makes me like this presentation..). Among your mosaics, i like also Drizzle in nov. Otherwise, i think your Dream Chair in march starts showing your talent, and ‘After the Rain’ in September shows a very nice ambiance! The Caged Man in December is also one of favoris as i like the idea behind. Voila there you are my choice. Happy continuation Lisi !

Hi Lisi. Unfortunately on dialup at home it’s not practical to expand even your thumbnails, but from the thumbnails, I know I love these 10. As always, your photos are uniquely yours. They often offer a view of something large with something small and detailed to focus on, and that’s very special. I look forward to the next year with you!

Happy New Year, Lisi! I have just come back from my Christmas holiday. I loved all of the Christmas light photos. I also love all of your “top 10 for 2006.” My personal list would also include: the sign for the plumber on may 1; graffiti about bus line - can’t remember dates; boy playing basketball during the typhoon in aug; and bananas on aug 21.

It would be especially hard to choose the best of yours, Lisi, as you are a truly fine and original photographer! I love your choice, and all your top ten! Happy New Year - here’s to more wonderful photos and more new friends in 2007.

Lisi, this is a treat to see 10 instead of one. I wish we all could have done this. Claustropobia is my current fave of this crop, but that might change tomorrow–very hard to choose. It’s nice to hear you reflect on the connection you have to the photos, as others have also mentioned this, and I think it might be what makes a photo great, or gives it souls, so to speak. Best wishes for your happiness in the new year!

Kate, take care in Mexico and we’ll see your photos again soon

Tanty, that one is definitely in the top 5

It is so funny how I remember all the photos, as if they were mime. Well, they are mime now because you gave them to us.

Now, if I could only receive Claustrophobia in my P.O. Box, I would be a happy man!
