There used to be shops like this in every corner of the streets before the time of skyscrapers, supermarkets and 7-eleven. Now this is a rarity. I walked past this little shop in Sheung Wan today, a colorful store front with all those products, promotion banners, posters and stickers. I also find the small “cash only” sign on the fridge a bit intriguing…did somebody actually request to use credit card in this small shop?

December 5th, 2006, at 6:07 pm #Cool shot. It reminds me a little of the delis we have here, usually small in size and packed with numerous things. This one is extremely messy though
December 5th, 2006, at 6:39 pm #pire que chez carrefour, on trouve tout dans ce kiosque. Amusant toutes ces affiches qui cachent en grande partie le kiosque. superbe photo.
December 5th, 2006, at 7:41 pm #worse than at “Carrefour”, one finds all in this kiosk. Amusing all these posters which hide the kiosk mainly. superb photograph.

December 5th, 2006, at 9:28 pm #There are so many cute little one liner ads, decals and colorful stuff on display in this gem of a “kiosk” that makes me want to stop and pick up something.
December 5th, 2006, at 10:19 pm #It’s not 7-11 but it’s a darn sight cheaper and much friendlier. I have one just round the corner from my house. We call them Kedai Runcit
Hey leosista, come by to KLDP tomorrow. Got a little surprise for you!
December 5th, 2006, at 10:39 pm #What an interesting mix. All sorts of merchandise in a very small space. Also, an interesting mix of English and Chinese.
December 6th, 2006, at 1:17 am #This is a crazy, busy-looking shop. Find the “Cash Only” sign?!! I can barely distinguish the foreground from the background. Great shot! Very nice cropping.
December 6th, 2006, at 2:09 am #Are Oreos dangerous over there? They seem to be caged in this shot.
I have a photo so similar to that of Trujillo and Barcelona.
December 6th, 2006, at 2:32 am #My thought on the “cash only” sign is that shop owner does not sell on credit. I believe some stores (in the old days?) will extend credit to their good customers and let them pay when it is convenient for them to do so.
December 6th, 2006, at 3:39 am #The shopkeeper is not making faces at you, is she?
December 6th, 2006, at 4:06 am #Great shot Lisi - packed full of the essentials. She seems to be hiding from you.
December 6th, 2006, at 6:01 am #Not only in KL, in Singapore, we still have some of these shops. There’s one two blocks from where I live.
December 6th, 2006, at 2:50 pm #Karine, actually it does remind me of the few kiosk photos you posted before too!
Tanty, didn’t know you have problem before…hope the problem was not created by my playing around the site ;p
wal”l”ter, do u read Chinese??
Ja, Oreo is dangerous, it is too sweet!
Valery, show us!
James, you could be so right…indeed these neighborhood stores do sometimes give credit to people they know…
Meg & Felicia, I think not, she’s making faces at u,
thanks everybody for the footprints!
December 6th, 2006, at 9:27 pm #Typo! My Chinese is very so-so - maybe every other word?
