Sad, but homelessness - that temporary condition that can befall anyone is a fact of life in most cities and towns. We hope those who are less fortunate are helped in the best possible ways.
Nice capture of the solemn photo; it's scenes like this that reminds us that we should give thanks for what we have and not what we want to have. Btw, no photo of you yet in "about me" section. Happy Thankgiving Day!

is s/he lying in the middle of the road?
i wish at least the police will alert him/her of the danger. Then again, does s/he want to be helped?
....i agree with W, its a fact of life

Poverty is a difficult subject and one I struggle with. Society does not function well when there are great disparities in the population. I have come to the decision that personally I will acknowledge the homeless but I will not give them money. I do however give to charities which support the homeless ... On the subject of photographing the homeless I am really torn. Awareness is important and photos put a face on the problem. But in my case I have chosen to share photos of the charities which support the homeless.

This photo is very powerful. Life isn't always pretty and perfect. There are some very sad aspects that we must face, this being one of them.
I like your new site. Very nice. :)

About your post and photo, it's great. Had me thinking I should also be posting photos that shows the " not so delightful " side of my city. Will be on the lookout!

Kris, I'll see how other blogs get that "remember me" box and fix that...I too think it is too "ma fan" (troublesome) for you all...

tr3nta, thanks, and yes do come back

Olivier...mmmm...what is SDF, you see I'll not very good with acronym :)

Denton, I too choose to budget a little money for a few charities instead of giving randomly on the streets. I used to buy coffee for those asking for change in Vancouver as well instead of giving them money.

Zannie, where are you? Budepest or Singapore, I'm confused

Thanks everyone, I wasn't aware that I post this photo on US thanksgiving day (Canadian thanksgiving is in Ocotber) so hope I've haven't spoiled the festive atmosphere...

Homeless people usually sit or sleep in a corner or along a wall. The fact that this person seems to be lying right across the pavement makes you wonder about him: Is he all right? Did he faint as he was walking?
On the general subject of showing the 'ugly' side of our cities, the answer is YES we should show it. It's part of life and it raises the global issue of a poverty around the world.
