Once a haunted mansion
This beautiful arched verandah is of a historical building in High Street which has been restored in 2001 as a community complex. Built in 1891, it had been different things to local people through the past 110 years, such as nurses’ quarters, mental hospital, hiding place for drug addicts and haunted mansion (to curious teenagers).
Why haunted mansion? Check out these photos of the building before and after restoration and at night time. If you are really interested, here’s more information on its history.

April 10th, 2006, at 2:30 pm #It is beautiful, isn’t it…but it’s a pity that this verandah is blocked and we can only see this through the gate…it would nice if there’s a cafe there. thanks again for the footprints

A really nice image with great perspective. It’s a lovely building, looks much better now. A sidewalk cafe would be perfect.
